1958

群馬の米農家に生まれる

 

​Born into a rice-farming family in Gunma.
 

1966

8歳で棒針編みの基礎を学ぶ。

翌年からは編み物の本を通して、かぎ針編みや複雑な編み地を独学で学び始める。

 

Learned the basics of knitting at the age of eight.

From the following year, I began teaching myself crochet and more complex stitch patterns through knitting books.

 

1968

有松絞りに興味を持ち、絞りの技法を覚える。

手仕事への関心がさらに深まる。

Became interested in Arimatsu shibori and learned its techniques, deepening my interest in traditional handcrafts.

1974

手編み機の基礎を学ぶ。

この経験が後にニットファーや編機による仕事へとつながる。

Studied the fundamentals of machine knitting.

This experience later became the foundation for my work in knit fur and machine-knit textiles.

1976
上京。新聞社の出版部に勤務、薬害の現実を知る。

 

Tokyo. First work in publishing.

1977-1978
北海道、白馬、九州、小豆島。ユースホステルなどを巡る旅。

 

Traveling and working across Japan.

1981
沖縄・石表と奄美大島を旅する。
 

Journey to Okinawa, Iriomote Island, and Amami Oshima Island.

1982-1984
カナダ、アラスカ、ニューヨーク、ヨーロッパ、エジプトを巡る。
 

Journey through Canada, Alaska, New York, Europe, and Egypt.

1984

軽井沢を拠点に創作活動をする。
 

Based in Karuizawa.

1986-7

東南アジアとオーストラリアを巡る旅。
 

Journey in Southeast Asia and Australia

1987-9
東京に戻り結婚、出産はバンクーバーで。
 

I got married, and gave birth in Vancouver.

1989-1983
東京で制作・販売を始める。
 

Starting production and sales in Tokyo.

奈良県十津川村へ移住

再びカナダへそして奈良で初個展
